What is a print proof?
The print proof is the final step before printing: a proof of your artwork, laid out at the ordered dimensions, which we submit to you for approval. Until you say yes, nothing goes to press.
What the print proof checks
- Framing : nothing important falls into a hem, under an eyelet, or outside the format.
- Proportions : a square file stretched onto a panoramic banner shows up immediately on the proof, not always on the original screen.
- Definition : a pixelated logo or a low-resolution photo is caught before being printed two meters wide. Our page what resolution for a print explains the thresholds.
- Colors : converting to CMYK can shift certain shades, and the proof shows them.
How it works at pixelprint
File checking is free on every order. Having a print proof sent by email is an option on each product page: you approve it, or you request a correction, and production only starts once you have given your approval. Allow one extra business day in the turnaround time: that is the price of printing with no unpleasant surprises.
Unsure before you even order? Send your file from the contact form by choosing "Prepress": we tell you what it will look like at your size.
