What is weighting?
Weighting is a tube slid into the bottom pole pocket of your visual. Its weight pulls the fabric or banner downward and stretches it vertically. The result: the waves disappear and the visual no longer flaps at the slightest draft. A door opens, someone walks by, the fabric stays in place.
At Pixelprint, two tubes to choose from: a 10 mm diameter aluminum tube, or a 4 mm diameter steel tube. Same price in both cases: 4.00 € per linear meter. The tube simply slides into the pole pocket sewn at the bottom of the visual, nothing to attach, nothing to glue. It is the natural complement to the pole pocket and the wooden rod: the rod holds the visual from the top, the weighting tube keeps it taut at the bottom.
One limitation to keep in mind: weighting tensions the fabric, it does not fasten it. Indoors, it is the ideal solution. Outdoors, reserve it for sheltered spots, with a light breeze at most. In real wind, you need eyelets and fastening by bungee cords : a tube alone will not hold the banner.
When should you choose weighting?
- A graphic hung indoors: shop window, reception hall, stand, trade show.
- A pole pocket and dowel assembly you want perfectly flat, without ripples.
- A sheltered outdoor spot: under an awning, in a courtyard, out of the wind.
- Avoid using it alone on an exposed facade: there, the eyelets and bungee cords do the work.
When ordering your PVC banner, add a bottom pole pocket and choose your tube, aluminum or steel. And if you are hesitating between ballast and eyelets for your location, describe the spot to us: we confirm the right finish together, even before the print proof.
