What are standoffs?
A standoff is a small cylindrical stainless steel part. It screws into the wall and holds the panel away from the surface: an offset of 15 to 25 mm. The panel never touches the wall. It seems to float in front of it, and the shadow cast behind it gives depth.
Mounting is simple. The panel, in acrylic or Dibond, is drilled at its four corners. Each hole takes a standoff fixed to the wall, and the panel screws onto it. Four support points, a perfectly flat panel, and from the front all you see is a small stainless steel cap at each corner.
This is the mounting choice for displays you want to showcase: a storefront sign plate, a reception acrylic panel with your logo, high-end signage in a lobby or hallway. The same panel glued to the wall looks like a notice board. On standoffs, it looks like a sign.
When should you choose standoffs?
- For a nameplate sign: practice, agency, professional office, retail shop.
- For a reception acrylic sign: the logo floats on the wall, behind the front desk.
- For high-end signage: the wall offset and the drop shadow enhance the panel.
- For any rigid panel (acrylic, Dibond) you want to visually detach from the wall.
